Resumen

Chromium (Cr) is an essential trace element that can improve insulin action over basic cellular reactions to keep (homeostasis) in carbohydrates, lipids, proteins metabolism, and energy production. Previous research has shown that chromium organic compounds are biologically more important than inorganic salts; animal production has demonstrated improvements in growing, fertility, nutrient metabolism and immune response in different livestock species, but research in sheep are scarce; nevertheless thisresearch has shown improvement in growing and carcass quality. Thus is necessary for further research on possibly effects of chromium in other specific indicators of meat quality on sheep.
