AC magnetic field induced rotation in levitating magnetostrictive wire

Resumen

A report on the AC magnetic field induced rotation in levitating magnetostrictive wire was presented. The results were reported ina 3mm diameter FeNi polycrystalline wires including field induced rotation in levitating wires. Levitation of the wire in a vertical configuration was achieved through magnetic forces generated by the exciting coil that balance gravitation. The results were found useful for the development of novel rotor devices.
